Out of the Dark Age of animation history
came Winsor McCay the Renaissance Man, and his domesticated dinosaur
Gertie. Wearing top hat and tails and carrying a whip, young Winsor
toured the vaudeville circuit. The dashing animator would have his
animated dinosaur, projected on a screen behind him, do tricks on command.
